Qeshm, the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Energy Hub
Qeshm, as the largest island in the Persian Gulf, is one of the cities of the Hormozgan province located in a strategic position, north of the Strait of Hormuz. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, in the first development plan of Iran, the creation of free trade zones was approved and in order to implement it, Qeshm region was declared in 1989 as a free trade-industrial zone. The primary purpose of establishing Qeshm Free Zone is to exploit the circumstantial benefits and enormous energy reserves in the region and the island in order to create favorable conditions for domestic and foreign investment.
Qeshm Free Zone Organization, in line with the resistive economy policies of the Supreme Leader and the government’s plans and attempts, has sought to facilitate the conversion of Qeshm into a regional oil and energy hub to facilitate investment in Qeshm Island. Qeshm’s unparalleled potentials include the water depth, the vast oil and gas fields, the expanding docks, the international airport and the special regulations of the free zone among the benefits that make this island rich in talent.
